It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that we have decided to cancel this year’s Ross Town Carnival until Saturday 7th August 2021.

In light of what we are facing there is no option but to hold off until next year as so many aspects of the Carnival take a lot of planning and work by the Committee and all of the participants that make the Carnival what it is. Our Sponsors; Stall holders; Funfair; Bar; Performers; Ross Town Council; Float organisers and Walking groups; Stewards; Odd Object organisers and local shopkeepers; Bingo organisers; Princess and Prince competition; Programme designers; Banner and website designer; Prize donators and Lorry sponsors cannot be expected to wait for an unknown end to our personal self isolation. Businesses will need time to recover and people will need time to get back to normal.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank all of the Ross Carnival supporters. Let’s make 2021 a Carnival like no other. Why not spend some time designing a parade entry for next year? We will also be looking for new Committee members and Stewards. Please share this post. #stayhome #staysafe #rosscarn20

Andrew Buffrey – Ross Carnival Chair

The Ross-on-Wye Carnival has been held on the first Saturday in August every year since 1977, making it the town’s oldest community tradition.

The carnival is organised by a team of local volunteers and the event is supported by many of Ross-on-Wye’s businesses and charities.

Every year the annual procession makes its way around the town’s centre, showing off a magnificent display of floats and fancy dress.  Anyone can take part in the carnival, with some great prizes up for grab.  You can enter by filling in our entry form.

The procession ends at the Ropewalk where you will find plenty of great entertainment including a fun fair, many different stalls and a wide range of food and drink. You can see a map of the full procession route here.

In the run-up to the carnival, we organise a selection of competitions including a colouring-in contest, and the family favourite ‘Odd Object’. Click here to see what competitions we have lined up this year.
